J. Bird Boutique

There have been many small clothing and accessory stores in Milwaukee throuhg the last couple of years. But just because Milwaukee continues to advertise agressively clothing and fashion at all does not mean everyone is going to pay for it. But the stores are not targeted only to one kind of people. Some boutiques carry some of the same labels you find at suburban malls like t-shirts for $20 and less. One of these stores is J. Bird Boutique. They even even are starting to sell the fashionable yet affordable men's wear. Jennifer Putney, the J. Bird's owner says her store will be split equally for men and women. Putney is buying men's apparel piece by piece and her collection has since grown and has some cool names. She's got Japanese and Italian denim, leather belts by Bill Adler and a celebrity-coveted T-shirt line out of Chicago. For advertising her men's fashion items she used the same sentence like the one for women: "¡viva variety". Putney thinks noone wants jeans for about $200. They may feel great in jeans for $70. So you can enter the store and there will be something for everybody."That's the really cool thing about the Third Ward," she says. "All of us boutique owners know each other and respect each other and we've each followed our own path to do something different to make this neighborhood something really special for the consumer. We all have something different to offer, so while Lela does local clothing designers, we do local jewelry."
